Certified translations

“Certified” is a term that’s often closely linked to translations. But it’s not as common as you might think.

Before you order a certified translation, make sure you check:

That you really need your translation to be certified
That you know how and where you’re going to use it

(We’ll ask you both of those things when you get in touch).

Please note: Certified Translations work very differently from country to country. This is because the requirements and norms vary according to laws and regulations. For now, the only translations we can certify here at Translasaurus are those that will be used in Portugal, due to these differences in norms.

Top tip: If you need an official document to be translated from an official EU language to another official EU language, it may be worth checking with the issuing authority of that document, as they may supply you with a translation or bilingual version of the document for a small fee.

Need a certified translation in Portugal?

In Portugal, “certified” means authenticated by a notary or lawyer. This means that the process takes a while longer and is considerably more expensive than a non-certified translation, as the cost needs to cover fees paid to these professionals.
